What is a Life Coach?

A life coach is a person who works with individuals to help them develop the life they truly want for themselves. Effective coaches are able to help their clients determine what they really want out of life and empower their clients to attain their goals by helping them discover and implement a plan of action that includes all of the steps necessary to achieve those goals.

These professionals deal with relatively healthy people who want to improve their lives in specific ways, such as changing careers, finding a healthy relationship, taking their business to a new level, losing weight or deepening their self-understanding, for example. They deal with stress management as well as time management, goal setting and other key areas of change to help their clients lead more balanced lives that better reflect clients’ personal values and priorities. It differs from therapy in that the focus is more on the present and future than the past, more on goals and behaviors than emotions and emotional patterns, and there is a more equal balance of power between the coach and client than between the typical therapist and client.

Coaching can fit into anyone's schedule, as it is usually done by appointment over the phone, through several sessions per month, and generally covers a period of three to six months. Most coaches include e-mail follow-up in between telephone sessions to offer additional support to their clients.

What They Can Provide: They can help people improve their lives or personal performance in a specific area like stress management, business, weight loss, personal relationships or other areas. Focusing on the present and the future, they can help you gain self-knowledge, create more effective goals, help provide a plan and framework within which to go about accomplishing them, be a partner in your journey, and provide resources and information to help.

What They Can’t Provide : They can’t provide psychological therapy, so if you have more serious emotional issues within yourself or interpersonal conflicts that need to be examined, a past you need to work through before you can move forward, or unconscious self-defeating patterns that keep cropping up, you might be better suited to look for a therapist.

How They Compare To Other Professionals : They typically charge rates similar to or less than counselors and therapists. They can help you over the phone and via email, so you have more options in who you see and when you see them, and can save commuting time. Coaching sometimes provides quicker results, as it typically addresses more surface-level concerns than therapy. However, if your problems are rooted in your emotional patterns or subconscious functioning and can’t be addressed by coaching alone, your coach may refer you to a therapist.

Marriage - The First Ministry

Marriage – The First Ministry

Statistics reveal that about 45 – 50 percent of all marriages will eventually end in divorce. These numbers are staggering to say the least. These numbers include Christian marriages as well.....

Why are these numbers so high? The answer: marriages have stopped being a priority in the lives of many busy couples.....

Work, children, and social activities have been substituted for the number one ministry between a man and a woman - that is the ministry of marriage… Continue

Thirty Books of the Bible

There are thirty books in the Bible in this paragraph. Can you find them? This is a most remarkable puzzle. It was found by a gentleman in an airplane seat pocket, on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, keeping him occupied for hours. He enjoyed it so much; he passed it on to some friends. One friend from Illinois worked on this while fishing from his john boat. Another friend studied it while playing his banjo. Elaine Taylor, a columnist friend, was so intrigued by it she mentioned it in her… Continue

Woman, the Gift from God to Man

Woman, the Gift from God to Man

Everything that God made, He made it to be a giver as Himself. The sun gives, light and heat, the flowers give off a sweet fragrant in the air, bees give honey, and the clouds give shade and rain.

When God created man in His image, He made a man that was not able to give anything since he had no one to give to. God insisted that it is not good for man to be alone; God made a helper that would be suitable or proper for him (Genesis 2:18).

The Lord caused a dee… Continue

Wearing the Whole Armor of God in Marriage

Wearing the Whole Armor of God in Marriage

(Being Fully Dressed and Armed for War)

Marriages are under attack inundated by a spiritual battle perpetrated by the evil one himself, Satan, the father of lies and deception. In His Infinite Wisdom, God instructed us through the Apostle Paul in his Epistle to the Ephesians where he said, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the d… Continue

The Armor of God - Stand Up & Dig In

Ephesians was written around 60 A.D. by the Apostle Paul while imprisoned for his faith. It was address to the people who lived in Ephesus & was a letter of encouragement to a group, rather than one person. The last part of Ephesians focuses more on the church & how it can function best.

vs. 10 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord,…"

This is a call to Christians (my brethren) to stand firm against the devil. Paul stated "Finally." We can only walk in the glory of Eph 1- 3 &am… Continue
